Synopsis

Green design is an emerging trend, defining the library of the 21st century. Green Library Movement which comprised of librarians. Libraries, cities, towns, college and university campus is committed to greening libraries and reducing eco-degradation. The concept highlights the conditions of green library is of recent origin and is under the process of evolution. And role of Librarian features of green library, initiatives in India.  The term green library is a very new view that is still evolving. Being an evolving concept it is gaining popularity among the scholars, academicians and library professionals all around the world as a growing view. The amount of information available on Green Library and sustainability is limited but it is increasing to grow. In recent years, the interconnected topics of green libraries and sustainability have garnered lot of attention in numerous publications aimed at international librarians.  Green library is a great deal of coverage in recent years in various publications targeted towards world librarians. This article defines the term “green library”, lists its benefits and examines the elements of a green library.
